Bali Travel Insurance

Bali Travel Insurance is essential when traveling to Bali for a visit or holiday.

Bali is an island in Indonesia; it is best known for its beaches. Many people from around the world visit Bali throughout the year. Apart from the beaches, it also has many temples, rice terraces and coral reefs. Bali is also a popular honeymoon destination.

Traveling abroad has many risks, but traveling to Bali has some specific risks:

  • Bali and other parts of Indonesia carry the threat of terrorist attacks.
  • Protests, rallies and demonstrations can turn violent at any time; therefore, avoid any such areas to the extent possible.
  • If you will be riding a motorcycle, make sure that you have a proper license and motorcycle insurance.
  • Make sure to get properly vaccinated to avoid health risks such as rabies, typhoid, hepatitis A and tetanus. Even after getting such vaccinations, avoid contact with monkeys and dogs.
  • Mosquito-borne disease is widespread in Bali due to its tropical location. Malaria, dengue fever, chikungunya and other similar diseases are a reality. Carry enough insect repellent and medication with you.
  • Diarrhea, sunburn, heat, fungal rashes and heat exhaustion (including heatstroke) are possible, so make sure not to get out in the sun too much.
  • Have you ever heard of prickly heat? It is a common skin rash in tropical areas, and it is caused when sweat is trapped under the skin.
  • Tap water in Bali is not safe to drink, so make sure to use bottled water only.
  • There is the risk of volcanic activity, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods and other natural disasters, so please make sure to follow emergency procedures. (In fact, east Bali's Mount Agung is an active volcano, and there is continuous volcanic activity.)

Before traveling to Bali for the holiday of your lifetime, make sure that you purchase travel insurance that also covers emergency medical evacuation.

There are several clinics and hospitals in Bali that cater specifically to tourists and expatriates. However, in the event of a serious medical condition, you would have to be evacuated by air ambulance to Singapore. This can cost more than $50,000. For that reason, both emergency medical evacuation and emergency medical coverage are vital while holidaying in Bali.
